CM Sarbananda Sonowal lays foundation stone of Tinsukia railway flyover

Providing a major thrust to railway infrastructure development in the state, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of a railway flyover in Tinsukia on Tuesday. The 563.4-metre-long railway overbridge, which will be built at a cost of Rs 60.21 crore over LNB Road (Sripuria), is expected to solve the traffic bottleneck of Tinsukia town. As a part of its railway connectivity improvement, the state government has already begun construction of several railway flyovers in major towns of the state.

3 Assam women 'stripped' and 'tortured' inside cop outpost

Officials from a police outpost in Assam’s Darrang district allegedly stripped and tortured a pregnant woman and her two sisters who were brought in for questioning in a “kidnapping” case filed against their brother for eloping with a girl. The mother-to-be said she had to terminate her pregnancy because of injuries at the Burha police outpost on September 8.
