Tongpang for review of communitization policy

Nagaland’s PWD Minister Tongpang Ozukum today felt that communitization policy has somehow loosened the department’s control over teachers in the state.

“They (teachers) seem to have become servants of Village Education Committee (VEC) or Ward Education Committee (WEC) and not government servant,” he alleged while addressing the day one of the general conference of All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) here.

In connivance with the VEC and WEC, many of our teachers are doing what they are not supposed to do, he said. In many schools, he said, communitization may be serving the purpose for which it was indented, “but the department should periodically review the merits and demerits of this policy so that the government is not kept in dark” what is happening in the schools.

Stating that teaching is a noble profession, he said, teachers have bigger responsibilities than anyone, any other profession or job.

“No other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply influenced by your love and affection, your character, your competence and your moral commitment,” he said.
