Immanuel College hosts inter college science fair

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): In commemoration of the College Silver Jubilee Celebration, Department of Science, Immanuel College organised ‘PEIRAMA’ a one day inter college science fair under the theme ‘Imagination towards innovation’ on February 28.


It was stated here in a press release that the event was graced by Dr. Zavei Heise, Chief Scientific Officer, Department of Science and Technology Government of Nagaland.


Dr. Zavei Heise in his speech highlighted on the workings and various activities undertaken by the Department for the development of science and technology in the state. He dwelled on a new programme on chemical ecology of the North East Region (NER) of India, a collaboration programme linking NER and Bangalore Researchers.


He stated that the objective of the programme is capitalize on existing connections between research institutions in Bangalore and NER to develop pro-ficial scheme examining the remarkable ecological biodiversity in the NER of the country and provide unique opportunities for the aspiring and early career scientist form region.


The first session was followed by lunch break and commencement of science fair, remarks and declaration of result. In the first category of exhibition, St. Joseph University’s static model on ‘Smart City’ was placed first followed by Immanuel College’s static model on ‘Solar Irrigation’. In power point presentation, group 2 of St Joseph’s College presented by Anorkia Dad and Sagaya Raslin took the first position while Immanuel College group 2 presented by Imtimen and Akani Aye was placed second. In poster presentation, Teihngam Konyak and Tingling Phone of Immanuel College emerged as the winner with Euglina Chang and Hansheang Konyak of Immanuel College as second.


The winning groups were awarded certificates and a cash prize of Rs 10000 each and Rs5000 for the second positions. Certificates were also awarded to all the participants. The judges for the events were Dr. Pelesakho Kehie, Asst Prof, School of Engineering &Technology Nagaland University and Dr. Tarun Kumar Jana, Asst Prof, Department of Botany, St. John College Dimapur.
