In what is one of the most stringent punishments for committing crimes against wildlife in Assam, the court of additional session judge at Bijni in the state's Chirang district has convicted two persons each with seven years' imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine for killing and possessing the carcases of three hares, two mongoose, one dove, one bulbul and one barbet.
