Micro finance institutions are facing a grave crisis in the state as hundreds of borrowers refuse to repay pending loans citing alleged harassment by these companies using strong-arm tactics to realise the outstanding amounts. This crisis has been brewing in the state, especially in the upper Assam region, since October last year.
