Hit by pandemic, rural tourism in Nagaland stares at uncertainty

Mopungchuket in Nagaland is widely recognised as the land of Romeo and Juliet of the northeast — Jina and Etiben of the Ao Nagas tribe — and is very famous for its community-based rural tourism. The cleanest village of Nagaland, however, is feeling the pinch of the country’s contracting economy and the ever-spreading novel coronavirus as most people in the village are slowly shifting from tourism-based jobs to other professions to sustain themselves.
