‘Jhum farming increasing risk of landslides in northeast’

Jhum cultivation or shifting cultivation, practised in the hilly terrains of the northeast by clearing vegetation, is posing a big threat to the region as it is enhancing the possibility of landslides because of accumulating rainwater.
