School Education Advisor KT Sukhalu said the government has taken a decision to strive and ensure that each and every child in Nagaland receive good education.
“We have schools in all the villages. We have posted teachers to ensure that boys and girls in rural areas also get the same facility that the urban areas are getting,” he said while addressing the day one of the general conference of All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) here.
Lamenting that majority of the teachers are really not doing the service, he urged the teachers to be committed no matter wherever they are posted.
“You choose this profession to serve the people, you choose this profession to see that Nagaland has a brighter future,” he told the teachers adding “Look at Nagaland develop through your students. Look at Nagaland prosper through your efforts and teaching.”
Education dept on soul searching exercise: Menukhol
School Education & SCERT Principal Secretary, Menukhol John said the department is on the job to get documentary evidence and find out where the government schools stand exactly on the ground.
“We have already sent inspection team to all the districts,” he said adding that more than 20 teams are trying to get fact and figure right in terms of children enrolment and deployment.
He termed it as massive exercise and soul searching exercise.
We need to change our system of teaching, he said adding that these days a professional qualification is needed to be a teacher.
By March 2019, he said, all elementary teachers who are untrained would have to be discontinued and their service has to be terminated.
He said as of now, about 3000 teachers both from government and private have to be terminated.
The Principal Secretary said it is very unpleasant job for the department to do but it cannot help since it is directive from Government of India.
