MK Plastics proprietor writes to Chief Minister

Appeals to provide positive direction interfering with ban order on plastic in Nagaland

 

Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): The proprietor of M/S MK Plastics, H. Kupushe Sema, has expressed concern on reports of the news item published in local daily of banning plastics in Nagaland within 6 months time.

 

In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Nagaland, Kupushe who owns a medium scale industrial unit, located at 3rd mile, Chekiye village, Dimapur, stated that he started the production of plastic carry bags of 51 Micron as per permissible Micron provided by the Central Government.

 

While adding that as a responsible Naga citizen, he observed all requisite terms and conditions prescribed by the Industrial Department, Pollution Control Board and other concerned departmental authorities. The finished items under MK Plastic label were mostly marketed in Nagaland and almost all the employees and staff hails from Nagaland, which he believe he is rendering his bit to the State by providing employment.

 

He further stated that his industry manufactures 51 Micron plastic bags, which is recyclable and under the guidelines, norms, terms and conditions of Forest & Environment Department, Pollution Control Board, local MAC Department and other authorities as provided from time to time in the foretasted matter.

 

Kupushe mentioned the recent banning of plastic carry bags by the Government of Maharashtra, but the Government has called back the order taking in consideration the matter of entrepreneurs in this issue. He further informed of an arrangement for a recycle unit in his industry, where the used plastics are being processed mechanically with clinical observation and converted into fresh form to be used for production of other plastic items.

 

Stating that he started this business with an aim to become self reliant and in turn provide employment avenues to local youths, Kupushe has apprised the benign authority to provide “positive direction interfering with the ban order,” whereby his industrial unit can survive.

 

It may be mentioned that Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has set the December deadline to “free the state of plastic waste.”
