ATMA Ralan block holds training of farmers group

Participants and ATMA officials after the training and mobilization of farmers group on November 23.

 

Wokha, December 2 (MExN): ATMA Ralan block, Wokha conducted training and mobilization of farmers group on November 23 at Liphanyan village.

 

The programme started with brief introduction of ATMA and its activities by Chophabeni Kikon, BTM. Training on disease and pest management on chilli was conducted by Nchumthung Shitiri, ATM. He highlighted on various strategies to control pests & diseases through natural, biological, agronomic methods. Resource person cited about the judicious use of pesticides in accordance with IPM principles. BTT convenor Chumyani Ovung (Agri Inspector) demonstrated on Oyster Mushroom Cultivation. She performed step by step procedures that included boiling of paddy straws, layering under polybags, spreading of spawns etc.

 

Mobilization of farmers group was also done where three SHG groups were identified. Women SHGs were called upon to work harder on various activities to uplift the economy and livelihood among the members. Altogether 35 farmers and ATMA officials attended the programme.

 

Farm school inaugurated

ATMA Ralan block also inaugurated Oil Palm Farm School on November 23 at Liphanyan Village. Concept of farm school was highlighted where dissemination of farmer to farmer technology and implementation of new and innovative technology would be carried out. Maintenance of farm school register was also taught. Farm school owner Yihamo was appointed as the farm school teacher.
