Church and village leaders trained to be dialogue facilitators at Tseminyu

Tseminyu, December 2 (MExN): One-day training on peace building and dialogue facilitation skill was organized by Pastors Fellowship Tseminyu along with Peace Channel on November 30.

 

While delivering the keynote address, Kishore Dass, PRO Peace Channel, stressed on the need to have a peace committee in the region. Once trained for peace they can prevent, intervene and build peace in the respective communities. “Thus, we can build a peaceful and harmonious society for our children and youth,” he stated.

 

Fr. Dr C.P, Director Peace Channel, the resource person trained the participants on skills in peace building and dialogue. He appreciated the pastors’ council for the initiative and the village leaders and women for their participation.

 

In the training, the participants were led to understand and analyse the various conflicts prevalent in the society. He trained the participants on dialogue and mediation and explained the importance of peace building and dialogue.

 

“We need a new society where our children and youth find meaning and purpose in life. It is easily possible if we train the community and church leaders on peace building skills and the children with peace education. The time has come for us to move from cultures of peace to the culture of peace,” he stated.

 

While addressing the role of women in peace building, Fr Anto quoted the example of Rwandan genocide in 199 which killed more than, 8 lakhs to 10 lakhs peoples, within a matter of 80 days in a war between Tutsis and Hutus.

 

After the genocide the women took the role in rebuilding Rwanda trough active peace building strategies. Today it has the highest number of women parliamentarians, comprised 67% which in the initial stage and now declined to 53.2%, he said.

 

Arhomo C Ngullie from Peace Channel in a press release stated that the participants shared their views and opinions and later concluded to form the Peace Forum Tseminyu.
Altogether 42 participants attended the programme.
