First-ever women police station in Wokha inaugurated

Wokha, December 2 (MExN): Wokha district inaugurated a fully fledged Women Police Station at Women Police Station located near the Wokha police station on December 1.

 

While inaugurating the new Women police Station, Additional SP, Wokha Tumchopemo Yanthan, said, the purpose of creating the Women police station came out of the concept through women empowerment.

 

He opined that through the creation of this station crimes and issue relating to women and children will be eased to a certain extend and the women officers will discharge their assignment with outmost responsibility in solving women related case and crimes in the district.

 

He also added from now on Wokha Women Police Station will work independently in registering and investigating of any cases against crime relating to women and children. Stating to do away with gender inequality and empower the women’s in fighting for their rights the Women police station was created and expressed optimistic that through this new creation cases relating to crime against women will come down and moreover women can come forward without any hesitation in registrations of cases to fight for their rights. He also added it’s an honour and a big achievement and landmark occasions for Wokha police and the district.

 

According to a DIPR report, representatives from Lotha Eloe Hoho who also spoke during the function expressed their appreciation to the Government of Nagaland all Officers involved in launching and creating a Women Police Station at Wokha and assured their fullest co-operation in whatever possible way for effective functioning of the women police station.

 

The inauguration function was chaired by SDPO, Wokha Sukumo Kikon, NPS, Associate Pastor Police Baptist Church, Wokha, Zubenthugn invoked God blessing and dedicated the new Office while vote of thanks was proposed by UBSI, Women Police Station, R.Lochumbeni.
