Naga people blinded by money and power, says Dr Shürhozelie

Pfütsero, December 2 (MExN): “God loves Naga people but we are blinded by money and power,” Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu said and called upon the NPF leaders to stand firm and be committed to the cause of the people and its welfare.

 

Former Chief Minister and Naga People’s Front President, Dr Liezietsu was addressing the one day seminar organized by the NPF Phek division at Pfütsero multi-purpose hall under the theme, ‘Regional Principle and Ideology’ on December 1. The President stated that NPF has no ownership but the party itself belongs to the Naga people as the party’s top priority is for the cause of the Naga people and its welfare.

 

He further said that many regional political party came into being and perished in the state only to contest election or for sheer power and money, but unlike those parties, NPF came into being to save its people, and it will remain so till solution to the Naga political problem is achieved and the NPF will always stand for the Naga political issue and preservation of the identity of the Nagas.

 

Speaking to a mammoth gathering, Dr Shürhozelie pointed out that many regional political parties failed to sustain in the state due to lack of principle and ideology for the Nagas in the past and even the NDPP, which is now in the ruling Government will also soon vanish, he added.

 

He also encouraged party workers that in politics there are fluctuations in position but being Naga leaders, one must stand firm to their principle as God will stand with the truth one day, this was stated in a press release from NPF Press Bureau, Central Headquarters.

 

Speaking as the resource person, NPF Secretary General and the lone MP Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye maintained that the NPF which is the second oldest regional political party in the country since its inception has remained strong in its principles and political stand. The party’s top most priority is for the resolution to the Naga political issue and to protect the identity of the Naga people, he asserted.

 

Pointing out that the NDPP will also soon vanish like other political parties, the MP stated that NDPP is just a by-product of NPF, NDPP is just a resting shed for many political leaders, he added.

 

Also speaking as resource person, ex-Minister and advisor to NPF President, Thenucho called upon the party workers that NPF is the only party which can uphold the identity of the Naga people, urged to remain firm and protect the people.

 

Former Minister and MLA, Yitachu in his welcome address stated that NPF represents the character and reflection of the Naga people. He called upon all party workers to fruther the true spirit of regionalism to the people.

 

The one-day seminar was chaired by Chivotso Nienu, President Phek Division and vote of thanks was delivered by MLA, Kezhienyi Khalo. Central party leaders including MLA Keneizakho Nakhro also attended the seminar.

 

The NPF Phek Division also adopted a resolution during the seminar. It resolved to continue to firmly support the leadership of Shürhozelie Liezietsu, President NPF and TR Zeliang, leader of NPF Legislature party.

 

It reaffirmed and resolved to continue to strive and uphold the regional principle and ideology in letter and in spirit and take the message to the citizens of the state.

 

It resolved to endorse its fullest cooperation and continue to support the leadership of NPF Phek Division legislators.
