Kohima, December 2 (MExN): The inaugural function on the National Workshop on ‘Basin Analysis and Sequence Stratigraphy’ was held on November 26 at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema with Professor Pardeshi Lal, Vice Chancellor, NU as Guest of Honour. Professor GT Thong welcomed the participants and introduced the resource persons – Professor Subir Sarkar (Jadavpur University) and Professor Santanu Banerjee (IIT, Bombay). Dr SK Srivastava, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology and Coordinator of the program gave a brief background of the Workshop. A short speech was given by the Vice Chancellor who dwelt on the origin of water, life, layered sedimentary rocks and petroleum. Professor BV Rao proposed the vote of thanks.
