‘Peace to All’ Campaign officially launched

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): Peace Channel officially launched 2030 Campaign with the theme ‘Peace to All’ at North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) Conference Hall during a training programme for the teachers, religious and community leaders, volunteers and professionals on March 1.


The Peace Channel in a press release stated that the participants were trained as a model to intervene and resolve conflict. The campaign was officially launched with the series of agendas i.e. to make Nagaland a peaceful state in the global map; to work for peace in different sectors (Educational Institutions, Different Organizations, Communities) and be a messenger of peace; to conduct Training on ‘Call for Peace’ and be partners of peace; to be a peace builder and contribute towards a peaceful society.


During the training Dr.Fr. CP Anto, Director, Peace Channel started the session on ‘peer mediation’ with a demonstration on conceptual structure of the society that depicts the present scenario of Nagaland which made the participants to analyze further. Emphasizing on the topic, he shared about the objectives, process, principles and effective ways to solve problems through peer mediation.


He stressed on the development of the youth and children in different institutions, to empower them to be Peace makers and train them to manage conflict constructively to solve their own problems and regulate their own and their classmates’ behavior.


Dr. Deben Bachaspatimayum, Asst Prof, (NEISSR) was the trainer for the programme. He stressed on ‘Dialogue’ as the skills of peace building. The session was initiated with a role play enacted by students of NEISSR. The message that was delivered through the act was that we are all living in a society where one does not have any rights to raise their voice against humanity. He also explained on the difference between Dialogue and Conversation and how one can effectively paraphrase the communication by changing the negative content that can lead to conflict and make a peaceful conversation. Stressing on the topic he also shared about listening and paraphrasing as a component for effective dialogue.


The programme concluded with an evaluation where the participants shared their views on the importance of Dialogue and Peer Mediation as a process of peace building.
