Assam remained among the top three states in the country with the highest infant mortality rate (IMR), the latest data of Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India has revealed. The state, which is struggling to bring down its IMR, has recorded a decline by three points from 44 per 1,000 live births in 2017 to 41 per 1,000 live births in 2018.
