Model code halts work to de-silt channels before rains

The monsoon is about to arrive in the state and the Gauhati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has not yet taken any steps to prevent the occurrence of flash floods, a perennial problem in the city. Channels and drains need to be de-silted well before the rains set in.
