The flood scenario in Assam worsened on Monday with one more district — Biswanath — being affected following heavy rainfall and continuous release of water by the Neepco’s Ranganadi project. Reports said about 31,900 people have been affected by the floods in the two districts of Biswanath and Lakhimpur so far. The situation may further worsen with the Met department indicating that heavy rainfall is likely to continue across the state over the next three-four days. Till Sunday, about 3,000 people in Lakhimpur district alone were impacted by the floods.
