Kohima, November 26 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) expressed ‘shock and bewilderment’ over the controversy surrounding the transfer of Additional Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma. In a press release, the NPF had claimed that the Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge of Home, Y Patton had ‘threatened’ the State Chief Secretary, R Benchilo Thong (IAS) on the subject matter of the transfer case.
The statement claimed that ADGP, Sharma who was removed as DGP, a couple of months back is ‘seeking for a deputation to Nagaland House, New Delhi’ but the “Home Commissioner has moved the file for grant of medical leaves which Sharma has not prayed for.”
As such, the matter was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister who has agreed to place him at Nagaland House, New Delhi.
The NPF statement claimed that Patton “has gone to the extent of threatening to finish off the Chief Secretary, Thong after his return from Mizoram.”
“How far are we going to bear these brunt and the unruly behavioral attitudes of our today’s political leaders”, asked the NPF and added that the Chief Secretary is sandwiched between Chief Minister and the Deputy CM due to their clash of interest and not for the welfare of the state.
The NPF also stated that it is ‘amused’ at the silence maintained by the PDA Chief Minister and all these controversies depicts deep insecurity within the alliance.
