A freight train, allegedly travelling at high speeds, on Saturday night mowed down two elephants, a mother and her calf, in the animal corridor of Lumding sector of Assam, triggering a blame game between the state forest department and the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). The railways has already initiated a departmental probe into the matter.
