The BJP-led Assam government, on the first day of winter session of the state legislative assembly on Monday, tabled a repeal bill that proposes to abolish government-funded and private madrassas regulated by the now-dissolved State Madrassa Education Board in the state and convert them into general schools of learning from the next academic session from April 1, 2021.
