The Assam government has issued a public notice seeking suggestions from citizens on a proposed law to ban polygamy in the state. An expert committee recommended that the state legislature is competent to enact such a law. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged the public to send their suggestions on the proposed law.from
