Organisations against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB), including the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), on Sunday said fundamentals of the 2016 and 2019 versions of the bill are the same. This comes after the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener and Assam minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said the draft of the 2019 version of the CAB was different from legislation introduced in Parliament three years ago, and envisages protection of the northeast's unique culture and identity.from
