Tarun Gogoi, three-time former Assam chief minister and the face of Congress in the state for decades, died at 5.34pm on Monday after three weeks of battling post-Covid complications. He was 86 and active in politics until he tested positive for the virus on August 25, days after presiding over the last in a series of meetings with potential non-BJP allies for the assembly elections next year.
