50% people unaware of head and neck cancer; northeast has highest number of cases

On the eve of World Head & Neck Cancer Day on Tuesday, a survey by Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati, has revealed that more than 50% people surveyed for a study had no prior knowledge that cancer can even occur in the head and neck. Though the northeastern region reports a higher incidence of head and neck cancer, health experts expressed concern over the ignorance about the deadly disease.
