A moderate turnout of about 65% was recorded in the Majuli byelection held on Monday. Though the turnout dropped noticeably compared to the 2021 assembly election when former chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal won with a huge margin, sources in the election department said the fall in the polling percentage by nearly 15% is not unusual. A high voter turnout of 79.31% was recorded in the last assembly election in Majuli. The estimated polling percentage recorded till 5pm in Majuli was 65.16%.
