Jnanpeeth awardee author Mamoni Raisom Goswami had dreamed of a hospital in her ancestral village Amranga in Kamrup district and had donated the entire sum of Rs 40 lakh she had received in 2008 to a government mini primary health centre to upgrade it. The great example of benevolence was cheered by the then health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who promised 24x7 healthcare at the rural hospital with the best possible facilities for the villagers when the foundation stone for the renovation was laid in 2009. A decade after the inauguration of the renovated hospital in 2011, lack of adequate health staff and basic diagnostic facilities plague the hospital.
