Farmers trained on ‘scientific cultivation of summer vegetable crops’

Dimapur, February 27 (MExN): AICRP (Vegetable Crops), Nagaland Centre, SASRD, NU under Tribal Sub Plan conducted farmer’s training on ‘scientific cultivation of summer vegetable crops’ at Zhuikhu village to highlight the farmers on the importance of vegetable cultivation and Plant protection in summer vegetables crop to make them aware of the benefits and advantages in growing vegetables. They were also highlighted on some important natural enemies (Farmers friends), how to identify and preserve them in their field.
A press release received here stated that the technical session-I on ‘Scientific cultivation of summer vegetable crops’ was delivered by N. Walling, Assistant Professor, B.VOC Programme, SASRD: NU and Technical session-II on ‘Plant protection of summer vegetable crops’ was delivered by Kavi Sumi, Scientist, AICRP on Pigeon Pea, SASRD: NU.
The training was attended by 66 farmer participants. The programme started with a brief introduction by Prof. Akali Sema, Incharge TSP- AICRP (Vegetable Crops), Nagaland Centre who highlighted on the importance of vegetables to the farmers and the different types of summer vegetables that can be grown successfully in a village like Zhuikhu. The technical session was followed by an interactive session with the farmers was conducted by Dr. Moakala Changkiri, Scientist, AICRP-VC, SASRD: NU where the farmers whole-heartedly participated and shared their opinions and views.
The wrap up session was conducted by Dr. Waluniba, Scientist, Training Incharge, AICRP-VC, SASRD: NU and Dr. Aastik Jha, Scientist, AICRP-VC, SASRD: NU, where seeds of summer vegetable crops were distributed to all the participants. The training was coordinated by Dr. Waluniba, Dr. Aastik Jha and Dr. Moakala Changkiri.
