With the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) calling for a total boycott of Independence Day celebration and a strike on August 15, the security forces have stepped up their vigil in upper Assam districts fearing attack by the proscribed outfit. Last year, the militant outfit had refrained from observing the customary boycott of the Independence Day celebrations, which was the first time in its 43-year-old history.
