The new task force, consisting of 18 members, has been formed based on the advice of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The task force will be responsible for surveying, verifying, and destroying illegal poppy cultivation. Mobile internet services back in Manipur after 143 days
After 143 days of ethnic violence, mobile internet services have been restored in Manipur. However, security concerns remain as a night curfew is still in place. The ban on internet services in Manipur was the second longest in India, after Jammu & Kashmir. The government suspended mobile internet services in May to prevent the spread of fake news and hate speech. With the situation improving, internet services have now been restored across the state. However, tensions still exist, and the authorities have warned against organizing gatherings or protests without prior approval.

Absence of dividers leads to traffic chaos at Ganeshguri & Chandmari
The absence of dividers on busy roads in Guwahati has increased the risk of accidents, according to pedestrians. Dividers can prevent unauthorized U-turns, discourage rash driving, and separate traffic moving in opposite directions. The most vulnerable stretches are Dr RP Road, Dr B Baruah Road, and Maniram Dewan Road. Plastic dividers and steel traffic barricades have been placed in some areas, but most of the dividers are broken. Unruly drivers taking U-turns in the middle of the road are causing disruptions and endangering lives. The police have sent a request to the Public Works Department to build dividers on the road.
