Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland State Unit has firmly endorsed the absolute stand of the National President and Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). A press release from Samuel Sumi, State Secretary (Org) NPP stated that the NPP was the first political party to reject the CAB and has until recently led the convention against the bill comprising of all likeminded regional political parties from the region.
“The identity and rights of the people of Northeast is central to the vision and political aspiration of the NPP,” the release stated asserting that the party was “totally against any factor intent on de-stabilizing the demographics and its regressive impact on land resources and debilitating effect on the socio-economic equation in the region.” It will continue to extend support and solidarity with people of the Northeast at this crucial juncture, The NPP maintained.
Meanwhile in pursuance of the issue, the party leadership said that it was closely monitoring the outcome of the proposed bill and will take recourse to an appropriate action accordingly.
