NSUB celebrates golden jubilee launch event

Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) celebrated its golden jubilee launch event on February 23 at the United Theological College Campus, Bangalore with Thotngam Jamang, General Manager of Reserve Bank of India as the chief guest. The event was co-sponsored by Axis Bank.


A press release stated here that NSUB, President, Nuthipru Nienu felicitated the chief guest and other guests. The chief guest along with NSUB ex-presidents, Nuthipru Nienu launched the official website designed and developed by Supongkiba Kichu. The NSUB logo with the motto ‘Building Resilience Beyond Challenges’ was unveiled by the chief guest, Convener of NSUB Golden Jubilee, Bendangyanger and NSUB President.


This was followed by the euphoric NSUB anthem composed by the ‘Red Light Passengers’. ‘Bridge’ an original poem composed by I Zulu Jamir was recited by Sentilong.


The chief guest, in his speech reminded the audience that they should always remember and acknowledge the pioneers whose vision and forward thinking, has laid the foundation for the Nagas in Bangalore.


The second session began with a cultural showcase of competing tribes in the category of cultural folk song and solo. The first prize was bagged by the Angami Students’ Union Bangalore, followed by Poumai Naga Students’ Union Bangalore and 3rd place by Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Bangalore (Ao Students’ Union Bangalore).


The event also witnessed guest artist from Tangkhul community, Chonchon Varah who lighted the stage. While the judges of the solo competition were deliberating over the scores, the crowd witnessed the beat boxing talent of Thejangulie Yiese. The solo competition was won by Sunep Lemtur representing Ao, 2nd by Ruth Murry representing Lotha, 3rd was shared by two individuals Dzüphro Terri from Mao and Kuputo K Wotsa from Sumi.
