Lack of vaccine cover in areas susceptible to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has put lives at risk as government figures revealed that only four out of 67 people, who died due to JE in Assam in the last 40 days, were vaccinated. Executive director, Assam National Health Mission, Manoj Choudhury, said, "Of the dead, four were vaccinated and 49 were not vaccinated. The vaccination status of the remaining 14 death cases still remains unclear."
