Approximately 70 prominent wrestlers will vie for ultimate title
Kohima, February 1 (MExN): The 1st Chakhesang Open Wrestling 2019 will be held kick off from February 8 at Pfutsero Sports Complex, Pfutsero under Phek District.
The event organised under the aegis of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) will be inaugurated with Minister for Planning & Coordination and Land Revenue Neiba Kronu as the Special Guest.
According to a press release issued by CWA General Secretary, Kuveo Cukhamu, Nagaland Referee Board was assigned with the task of Referees and Panel of Judges while Kuzhovesa Soho, Zekozo Mero, Sekho Thisa and Lehu Lohe will be the recorders.
Tavezo Thuluo, Vipanyi Krome and Vibi Mero will be the announcers while Wekekhe Tsido and Besuto Rose will be the Time Keepers.
Kukuo Getsa and Besuhvo Vadeo will the Belt Binders while Rudasa Curha and Zanuo Vadeo will be the runners of the open wrestling competition.
Meanwhile, as per the official sources of the CWA approximately 70 prominent wrestlers from Chakhesang, Angami and other have registered and expected to vie for the coveted fist ever title.
Kezhavizo Thevo and Kekhriezo Nagi a prominent wrestlers from Anagami Sports Association (ASA) along with former NWA Champion, Vechita Khesoh-Chakhesang, former NWA Open wrestling champion Venuzo Dawhuo, former NWA Open wrestling champion Pfusato Tetseo, Vetuzo Dawhuo, Nekhozo Keroh, Venuzo Vadeo, Velato Veswuh, Besuhveto Cumu, Vetazo Veswuh, Thupukutho Phesao, Dojolhu Shijoh, Rukulhu Phesao etc were some among others reported to have registered to be vying for the ultimate title.
As per the release, the champion shall walk away with a cash prize of Rs.1,20,000 along with citation while first runners-up will also awarded Rs. 80,000.
The second runners-up, sponsored by the Staffs of ADC, Pfutsero, will also pocket Rs.40, 000. The third runners-up, sponsored by the Traders’ Union Pfutsero Town, carries s sum of Rs. 20,000.
The losing pre-quarter finalists shall also rewarded a sum of Rs. 3,000. each while the losing quarter finalists shall also pocketed a sum of Rs. 6,000 each.
The ticket price has been grouped into 4 category viz; Chair, Rs. 500/-, 300/- and 200/- while the gallery is priced at Rs. 100/-.
NWA rules and regulations shall govern the entire proceedings of the wrestling competition, the release said and Rs. 300 is the entry fee. Accommodation shall be provided to the non Chakhesang wrestlers.
The CWA appealed all wrestling lovers to be part of the indigenous mega event and join the community traditional festival with the Chakhesangs.
