NDPP responds to Dr Shurhozelie’s statements

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 1 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has issued a rejoinder against the statements made by Naga People’s Front (NPF) president, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu during the NPF CEC Meeting on January 31.

A press release from NDPP president Chingwang Konyak stated that the statements made by him were “unbecoming of his supposed stature.”

“Instead of focusing on genuine issues, policies and programmes and the roadmap of his party’s role as opposition he chooses to speak against the motto and symbol of another political party at the highest forum of his party meeting. It shows that he lack statesmanship, vision and is bereft of any constructive opposition agenda,” Konyak alleged.

It in turn questioned NPF’s motto and symbol “fide non armies” stating that the Latin phrase was used in the “’coat of arms’ and also the motto of Lord Gambier used much before the NPF was even born.”

“Likewise its symbol of cock is a universal symbol used by several organisations, institutions and even countries, adding that the NPF flag is a “reversed French flag.”

“If they compare the manifestos and vision documents, since the NPF president questions the vision and action plan of others, it is also questionable of his achievements, landmark policies and programmes, new initiatives and ground breaking developmental visions during his leadership and chief ministership,” Konyak pointed.

Criticizing the NPF president of “cultivating a habit of pointing fingers at others,” Konyak also asserted that he was “unceremoniously removed” as Chief Minister due to his own party members going against him.

“The very person who led the backstabbing and dismissal of his chief ministership today sits beside him as his leader of opposition. With back stabbers against each other sharing the same bench, the NPF president would do well not to speak of the alliance or partnership of the PDA,” Konyak said.

Further slamming the NPF president of suddenly becoming critical of the BJP and the Central Government, Konyak reminded that the party was in alliance and coalition with the BJP only yesterday.
