Pishikhu Village Baptist Church celebrates Jubilee

Dimapur, February 24 (MExN): Pishikhu Village Baptist Church celebrated its Golden Jubilee on February 23. Rev Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, Executive Secretary, Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) unveiled the jubilee stone.


In his speech, he appraised the gathering that the WSBAK considers Pishikhu Village Baptist Church as a prominent church among its units. Reminiscing earlier years when he was ordained at the church, the reverend recalled how the church leaders preached the gospel by visiting village to village by foot, stated a press release here.


The speaker exhorted the gathering to not only strive to save their souls but also to save the souls of fellow beings.


Rev Dr. Hevukhu also reminded that Jubilee is the year of “confessing sins, forgiving one another and to be set free from the bondage of sin.”


“God loves us but when we don’t live according to the word of God, God cannot help us,” he said and added that believers should be filled with the spirit of God. He then, called the gathering to be loving a passionate towards neighbours friends and the downtrodden.


Asserting that we donot face hurdles or challenges in worshipping, he said that as a result we are very lenient in our living as Christians and cited example of how the Christians are suffering in communist countries.


“One can change one’s ways if one is truly willing. The holy spirit is ready and we should allow to manifest in us,” the speaker exhorted and further called the believers to introspect whether we have been set free or not. “We should not only be set free during jubilee but we should live the same after jubilee.”


The programme was chaired by Khekivi Aye, Pastor, PBC while the programme was recorded by Xekishe Chophi, Secretary, Jubilee Planning Board.


Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Atoshe P Wotsa. Ato Kukau, Pishikhu Village. Greetings were also delivered by Tokishe Chishi, Ato Kukau, Naghutomi Old and Hukheto Yepthomi, Ato Kukau, Lhomithi Village.
