The police seized two pistols, 40 live cartridges, and some objectionable materials from a bus at the interstate bus terminus in Silchar on Tuesday evening. A senior police official said a team from the Tarapur town outpost based on specific information conducted a search operation at the bus terminus and seized two pistols and the bullets kept inside a bag from the bus which came from Tripura's Dharmanagar. No one has been arrested in this connection so far, and police suspect an illegal arms smuggling racket behind the seizure. A probe has been initiated.
