Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Assam, India. The park has been experiencing an unprecedented surge in tourist traffic, with more than 18 lakh visitors in 2018. The majority of visitors have visited the park after it reopened in October, and hotels and lodges are reportedly being booked until the end of the year. Director Jatindra Sarma told the Times of India that there has been a 25 increase in footfall in the park this month compared to December last year. "It is heartening to share that there was zero poaching in Kaziranga this year this is an all-time record simultaneously there has been a constant increase in tourist flow and more are expected in January," he added.
