Volunteers to keep hawk eye on 1,200 poll booths

Thousands of volunteers from the Mizoram People Forum (MPF) will monitor 1,200 polling stations to ensure fair elections. The MPF, consisting of powerful NGOs such as the Young Mizo Association and Mizoram Hmeichhe Insuikhaom Pawl, has been working since 2006 to conduct peaceful elections in the state. The MPF has agreements with political parties on campaign and election expenditure, which are followed by all parties. Mizoram is known for its healthy election environment, with coordination between political parties, church denominations, NGOs, police, and administration. MPF volunteers are non-partisan and are not allowed to receive money from political parties.
