Lalduhoma, the oldest person to assume the office of CM in Mizoram, had a long and winding political journey. He cracked UPSC exams and joined IPS before entering politics. He played a key role in brokering peace between the Indian government and the Mizo National Front. Lalduhoma joined the Congress party, but was later disqualified as an MP. He then formed the Mizoram Congress for Peace, which later merged with the People's Conference to form the Democratic Party.from
