The recalcitrant anti-talks Ulfa(I) led by Paresh Baruah and the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) remain the last stumbling blocks in Assam's road to a militancy-free era after four decades of living under the sword of armed insurrection. Friday's tripartite peace accord with the pro-talks Ulfa faction headed by Arabinda Rajkhowa fetched more than a brownie point ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year. The peace process with Ulfa has started, aiming to bring both factions to the negotiating table.
