The Centre and state government recently signed a peace deal with Ulfa's pro-talks faction, resolving the armed movement. Ulfa's actions included abductions, killings of hostages, and infamous incidents like the assassination of Surrendra Paul and the killing of schoolchildren in an IED blast.
