Suspected National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Khaplang) militants abducted three persons at gunpoint from a stone quarry at Joypur in Assam's Cachar district on Saturday. Sources said the militants fired shots in the air at the quarry at 7.30am and abducted two drivers of excavators and a trucker while they were engaged in excavating and carrying stones from a riverbed. After the news of the abduction spread, cops from Udharband and personnel of Assam Rifles rushed to the spot and launched an operation to rescue the trio, a police official said.
