Kohima, January 30 (MExN): The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) today conducted training on “Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance” for Village/Habitations under urban division, Kohima at the conference Hall of Kohima Urban Division.
Resource person Dzesetsino Kiso Chemist (PHED) stated that water testing has seven different parameters that has to be checked to declare water as safe for drinking purpose i.e. odour, colour, turbidity and taste which can be physically detected and other three parameters i.e. Ph value, chemical contamination and bacteriological test can be done only in the laboratory for which the PHE Department has set up in every district head quarter where public can avail the facilities to test their own source of water.
The PHED Urban division Kohima issued 10 number of FTK (Field Testing Kits) to the villages to test their own water source periodically after completion of the training.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SDO PHED Er Theyiesetuo while PHED Urban Kohima Executive Engineer Er P Khetoi Awomi delivered key note address. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Thepfulie, Sanitation & Hygiene Consultant WSSO, PHED.
