Guwahati January 23 (MExN): A high power delegation of the Janata Dal United (JDU) consisting of Prasant Kishor, KC Tyagi, Afaque Ahmed Khan, Vice President, Secretary General, General Secretary in-charge of Northeast along with North East Executive Council (NEEC) will be visiting Guwahati on January 28 to take stock of the situation “arising out of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by interacting with all the stake holders.”
As per the decision taken on January 20 during the National Office bearers meeting, a press statement from Senchumo (NSN) Lotha, Chairman NEEC further stated that the meeting also decided to vote against the bill if it comes up in the Rajya Sabha. For this purpose, it was decided that the leader of the JDU legislators in the Rajya Sabha will be directed to do the needful. The meeting also reaffirmed the party commitment to stand against any communal forces that threatens to destroy the secular fabric of the country. It “shall leave no stone unturned to safeguard the constitution of India,” the statement added.
