A day after the Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi empowered the Assam government to implement local land policies and laws to secure the interest of indigenous people, the Prabajan Virodhi Manch (PVM) on Thursday asked the state government to immediately pass a legislation reserving land, employment and other benefits for the indigenous communities and pre-1951 citizens of the state and their descendants.
