Assam is moving fast on path of progress. Help it grow more: Himanta to Ulfa (I)

The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, spoke at the 74th Republic Day celebrations here on Thursday and emphasized that Ulfa I is the only objective left to be overcome in Assam's path to peace. He appealed to the Ulfa I leadership to return to the mainstream and said that the situation in Assam is not the same as it was when the organization was formed more than four decades ago. The chief minister also mentioned the peace accords that the government has with the Bodo Karbi and Adivasi groups in the last few years, which have ensured the "return of peace to the state." He said that a massive cultural event, marking the Assamese new year, is being planned on April 14 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event.
